The Cadillac Eldorado model is one of the longest running cars one can still find today. Manufactured by General Motors from way back in 1953, the Eldorado model became a top American personal luxury car and although it faced serious competition from such cars as Oldsmobile Toronado, Lincoln Mark and Buick Riviera, it stood its ground.
Unlike with the previous Eldorado models, the 1977 Cadillac Eldorado title features a new grille in addition to a fine crosshatch. Although it borrows a little from the 1976 convertible model, it is a Coupe model that recorded one of the highest sales as a single-year model car. It features the traditional Biarritz trim that has always appealed to Eldorado buyers.
Manufactured in the year when Cadillac was celebrating its 75th Anniversary, the 1977 Cadillac Eldorado title went through an elaborate redesign, restyling and reconfiguration to meet the growing demand of a unique car then. It was particularly reconfigured to meet the growing demand for a small and fuel-efficient car with the same internal look as Cadillac convertible.
The redesigning process yielded the 1977 Cadillac model that is about 12 inches shorter than the convertible with the body being 3.5 inches narrower. The reduction in the car’s width did not compromise on the car’s interior room, amenities and luxury that Eldorados had come to be known for. As the 1977 Cadillac Eldorado title was riding high in terms of sales and popularity, GM was secretly working on a surprise; production of a smaller Eldorado that was unveiled in 1979.
The reference in 1978 by Cadillac that the 1977 Cadillac Eldorado title was a legend immediately alerted consumers of the imminent departure of a car that had proved itself as a dependable luxury personal car. Its 425 cubic inch V-8 engine made the car powerful enough to meet the needs of most car owners. Unlike with other immediate past models, the 1977 model features a catalytic converter that is very helpful in cleaning up engine emissions, in effect enhancing engine performance.
A 1977 Cadillac Eldorado title properly cared for will still exhibit the unique characteristics it did then. The soft white leather should still make the car one of the most classic luxurious cars available. The good thing is that most of the car’s mechanical parts are still readily available as the same are shared with other models.
